Oil level gauge question for 2HP, 8Gal. Air compressor?
timeggenberger asked:
It’s an electric motor. There’s no ‘dip stick’, the ‘Oil level gauge’ is a clear, round, window into the crank case. The center of the window has a smaller, concentric, Red circle.
For now, I’m assuming the level must be at, or about, the Red circle. Just want to be sure since I had the same compressor go bad before getting the replacement which I have now.

the offical name for the “window” is a sight glass, generally when something has a sight glass, “full” is about the middle of the glass sometimes they have marks or a range, i would say that if the oil is up to the red circle its full
you are correct. The oil level should be at the center point of the sight glass.
Small compressors will have splash lubrication method. If the oil level is a little more no problem may arise. You can see the splash through the sight glass while the compressor is working!
