Can I use a finish nailer with a large compressor?
Steve Z asked:
I am redoing most of the trim in my house, and would like to use an air nailer. I have a regular shop compressor. Is the only advantage to a small pancake compressor the portability? Once the trim is done I don’t think I’d use the compact compressor much.

You can adjust the pressure on the shop compressor. You nail gun will tell you. I shoot mine at about 90-100 and it does well. Too much pressure will shoot the nail right through.
the size of the compressor is insignificant. you have to regulate the output air according to the specs of the nailer.and adjust the regulator accordingly.
I just finished my trim work and I used my shop compressor, it worked fine just lower the regulator to 85 or 90 psi for pine and 100 for hard wood like maple or oak.
